The melon keeps pushing, and a crack opens along its edge. Red chunks of fruit start to burst out near the cub's cheek. By the end, the rind has split open and red pieces scatter to the right, while the cub's face stays calm and still.
The cub, the grass and the warm backlight stay the same from start to finish. The camera does not move. Only the watermelon and the flying fruit change the picture, and the cub barely reacts. The melon comes in at head height from the side, so a photo with a clear face and some open space beside the head leaves room for the hit.
