What happens in the Beam me up sample.

The first run opens on a person with shaggy dark hair, an orange jacket and a thin white stick in the mouth, standing by a metal fence under a blue sky. They wave, then thin blue light streaks cover the whole body. Next, a woman in a cream and gold dress poses inside a large gilded frame on grass; she waves, and the frame fills with falling blue light. In the third run a man in a white jacket and red tie crouches by a shop window. He glows, straightens up inside the beam, and the last frame shows only a wooden chair and a spark.

Each background stays put while the person goes: the fence and poles, the park trees, the shop window with its smile sign. The camera does not move in any run, so the empty place at the end reads clearly. The frames show the column of light, not a ship. Every run starts from a shot that shows most of the body with space around it, so a photo of the whole figure against an open background gives the beam a clear shape to take away.
